The Revalidation Support Unit – National Training Days have been an essential part of delivering training and support to all our GP appraisers on various aspects of appraisal and revalidation. The 2014 training day was the 10-year anniversary since its inception.
The first training day was run in 2004 at The Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells. It focused on the role of our Appraisal Coordinators and group discussion on previous versions of the form 3 and form 4.
Since then, the training day has grown and is extremely well attended by the majority of our GP appraisers every year. The event is normally held each summer and although the venues have varied across Wales, the large majority of them have been held in The Metropole Hotel.
National Training Day 2014 – 10-year Anniversary
This year the training day was held in Ramada Plaza Hotel, Wrexham on 13th June.
The overall focus was on a celebration of what has been achieved and reflection of the last decade. Each session was structured to be as interactive as possible whilst looking at where we were; where we are; where we are going and encouraging contributions particularly in relation to forward planning.
The event included a key note speech delivered by Professor Malcolm Lewis OBE, reflecting on previous year’s accomplishments, as well as focusing on the challenges ahead with regards to appraisal and revalidation. The video can be accessed here.
Over 75 delegates attended the event which included over 60 GP appraisers with the remaining numbers made up of senior managers, office staff and Appraisal Coordinators.
